Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa – Share Travel Itinerary Certified

Share Africa Travel is proud to announce that we have developed and certified a Fair Trade Tourism holiday package to South Africa. In doing this Share Africa Travel joins a growing and pioneering group of tour operators that are committed to showing their obligation to fair and responsible tourism development in South Africa. The “Gauteng, Limpopo & Mpumalanga” Fair Trade Tourism package will offer travellers a real chance to give something back to the local communities they love to visit.

Fair Trade Tourism holiday packages guarantee that the holiday benefits workers and owners of tourism businesses by requiring long-term trading relationships, full prepayment and binding cancellation agreements. An additional amount (called a Fair Trade Tourism development contribution) will be channelled directly into a central fund and used for development projects across South Africa. Fair Trade Tourism also monitors that price levels and contractual agreements are fair and that they are being followed, ensuring a fair deal especially for small and emerging tourism businesses. By submitting both their internal operations and contractual relationships to a thorough audit against Fair Trade Tourism standards, Share Africa Travel are showing complete dedication to fair and responsible tourism.

The Fair Trade Tourism certification programme is operated by Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa (FTTSA), endorsed by South African Tourism, and was developed in close consultation with South African and international tourism industry professionals as well as Fairtrade International and other experts.

On the self-drive tour “Fairtrade Gauteng, Mpumalanga & Limpopo” our guests get to see the fascinating beauty of the north-eastern part of South Africa. It includes interaction with local people on a visit to the Soweto township and gives you the possibility to get to know the Big Five – elephant, rhino, leopard, buffalo and lion – in the Kruger National Park. All accommodation and activities in the package are proudly Fair Trade in Tourism certified.
